Training the Next Generation
BCM showcases educational programs
BCM's booth at the AAMC conference
A booth at the recent AAMC conference held in San Antonio enabled Baylor College of Medicine representatives to showcase outstanding areas of medical education as well as new education programs that will include:
- At the undergraduate medical education level, a new Genetics Track to expand the core curriculum.
- At the graduate medical education level, a multi-disciplinary program in genomic leadership that will create a core curriculum in leadership and genetics, augmenting tradition discipline-based residency programs.
- At the continuing education level, faculty development so practicing clinicians can avail themselves of the emerging technologies in genetic diagnosis.
The booth, set up in the Innovations in Medical Education section, featured a multimedia presentation, model of the Baylor Clinic and Hospital, scheduled to open in 2011, handouts that included copies of our Solutions magazine and write ups about Dr. Michael E. DeBakey's Congressional Gold Medal and Dr. Bert O'Malley's 2007 National Medal of Science, and a number of giveaway items.
